May News 2019

May 6, 2018

Dear Riverton Families,

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We love our teachers at Riverton School and this is the week we honor them for all they do for our students.  Please join me in celebrating our wonderful staff, and letting them know how much you appreciate the work they do for our students. Thank you to the PTO for the special treats planned for this week. School Nurses Day is Thursday, May 8- remember to show appreciation to Nurse Nancy, too!
Riverton Elementary School will be hosting our Annual Art Gala and Silent Auction on Thursday, May 9, to raise funds to continue work on our natural play space for children of all abilities to enjoy. The event will take place from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Riverton School and is open to students, families and community members.

Morning Drop Off Reminder
We want to remind parents and caregivers that students should not arrive to school earlier than 8:05 am. There is no supervision before this time.  Students must not be dropped off at school in the morning before 8:05am, unless they are attending the Morning Rec Program. If you need care coverage for your child before 8:05, please call Rec at 874-8455. Also, please remember that our drop off and pick up spot is the area near the community entrance of the building.  The front half circle is intended as a parking area for visitors coming in to volunteer or attend a meeting.  Only busses are permitted in the bus loop. Mr. Turner and I offer a sincere thank you for working with us at morning drop off and dismissal by following the posted signage, keeping traffic flowing smoothly, and most of all, creating safer conditions for our students. Your patience and efforts are deeply appreciated!

A Reminder about Dismissal
Dismissal is at 2:50 p.m. (1:50 p.m. on Wednesdays, through the end of May) and it is a very busy time of day.  For safety reasons, and to make dismissal an orderly process, we ask that if your child has a change in plans from their usual dismissal routine (for example, if they normally take the bus home, but you will be picking them up that day instead), please contact the office no later than 1:00 p.m. to notify us of the change in plans.  Additionally, you may also send your child to school with a note for his or her teacher, indicating any change in plans.  If the office does not receive a phone call with the change in plans,  or the teacher does not receive a note from you, we will insist that your child follow their usual dismissal routine.
