June News

June 10, 2018
Dear Riverton Families,
The end of the school year is almost here and what a wonderful year it has been! I have enjoyed getting to know the students, staff and families of the Riverton School Community and feel proud to be a member.  It has been a great year full of learning and growth for all our students. Just a reminder that we no longer have Early Release Wednesdays in the month of June and dismissal is at 2:50. The last day of school is Wednesday, June 20 and it will be a full day.

Riverton Schools Librarian, Ms Ivy and I want you to know that there are so many fantastic programs for children all year at the Portland Public Library. This summer the Portland Public Library will be having an  All Aboard! Summer Reading Program form June 18-August 11.

The All Aboard! Summer Reading Program encourages students to read and learn over the summer. They provide a reading log, as well as entertaining programs to attend. This year the Riverton Branch Library is providing wonderful programs for kids to keep their learning alive over the summer! On the schedule there are special events with The Honey exchange, the Center for Wildlife, and art projects.

Students will be excited to hear that when they read eight books and try at least eight of the suggestions on the All Aboard Map, they will receive a certificate, a book, a coupon for the Gelato Fiasco and Subway, and a chance to win a bicycle! Dates are June 18th to August 11th. At sign up kids will receive a voucher for tickets to a Sea Dogs game. Watch for information about All Aboard! that will be sent home with students in mid June. It will give students and families all the information they need to take part. The Riverton Branch phone number is 797-2915

The Riverton Branch Library has a great website:  https://www.portlandlibrary.com/locations/riverton-branch/
